So I Hear Google is Cracking Down on Google Maps Users. Should I be Worried?

Short Answer: MapifyPro is one of the few proprietary mapping solutions around, and we don’t use Google Maps whatsoever. So, no worries here.

Somewhat Longer Answer: MapifyPro is built upon an open source API alongside our proprietary code. We’ve built a mapping platform that is just as powerful as Google Maps, but with more freedom, more features, and no external licensing woes. Unfortunately all users of Google Maps (even customers!) will now have the threat of being charged (Source: https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/pricing/) but with MapifyPro you can rest easy that you won’t have anyone pressing for legal ramifications down the line. We believe in the utmost transparency here, and want you to enjoy our product with no “gotchas!” down the line.

Common Tech Issues:

I’m Having Search Issues in Some Countries.

You'll need to set the "Search Region Bias" in your map settings. You can do so in the MapifyPro > Maps > [specific map] section of your admin.

Note: Per Google standards, you'll want to use the COUNTRY CODE rather than the full country name. So, UK instead of United Kingdom. You can find the full list of country codes here.

This is incredibly useful to make sure MapifyPro searches look at a specific country FIRST before searching others. So if most of your locations are in the United Kingdom, you'll want to enter "UK" in this field on that specific map. Otherwise it will first search the United States, and may display "No results found" when visitors search on your map.

To adjust this settings, scroll near the bottom of your map settings, and you'll see the following field where you can set the country:

I Can’t Plot a Specific Address

We've had reports of some customers struggling to locate certain addresses on the map when creating locations, or when using the batch uploader. Here is a tip that will address the issue:

In many cases, the location will be found using any address. However if you receive the "Geocode error: Cannot locate address" message, try this:

-Remove the city and zip code form the address you are entering. For example:

-Instead of: 12345 CreekRidge Rd. Dayton, OH. 45150

-Enter: 12345 Creekridge Rd. OH

(Note that this isn't a real address and will produce the same error, but shown as an example on how to format your addresses).

Use this format for all addresses and you will be good to go while adding locations one at a time or in the bulk uploader.

The Bulk Uploader is stalling or not working

Also important is that you CANNOT use UTF-8 characters. Be sure that when you save your file, reopen it to ensure no UTF-8 characters have been added.

Can I change the “labels” on the front end map? Such as “Default View, Search area, buttons, etc.”?

Yep! This feature is built into the admin and clearly labeled. You can change all text as needed anywhere text appears on your maps.

Can I change Map Styles?

Also yes! MapifyPro comes with multiple map styles that you can change via a simple dropdown in your map settings. it'll look like this:

Custom image mode isn't rendering my map image. Can you help?

Sure! The number one reason for this is a quick overbite. Be sure to select "Image" in the "Mode" drop down at the top of your map settings. It'll look like this:

This tells the app to render the image, but is easy to miss.
